Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of counseling?
Therapy helps you understand yourself better, make intentional choices, and create lasting change. It’s not about fixing what’s “wrong” with you—it’s about discovering what’s possible when you work through what’s holding you back. Everyone makes mistakes; the key is learning from them.
As I often say: you can make 100 mistakes, just don’t make the same one 100 times.
Counseling gives you the space, tools, and support to do exactly that.
What is your counseling style?
My approach is collaborative, honest, and goal-oriented. I use a mix of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety.
I bring truth, humor, and compassion to every session—and I’ll challenge you when it’s needed. You get out of therapy what you put into it, and we’ll do the work together.
What happens in a counseling session?
We talk, reflect, and problem-solve. Some days you’ll learn new coping tools; other days we’ll unpack old patterns or practice new skills. The goal is always the same: helping you leave each session feeling clearer and more capable than when you arrived.
I’m nervous—it’s my first time in therapy. Is that normal?
Absolutely. Feeling nervous means you care about your growth.
In our first session, we’ll go at your pace and talk about what brought you here, what you’d like to work on, and what you hope to gain. By the end, you’ll know if it feels like a good fit.
If not, I’m always happy to refer you to another therapist who may better meet your needs—no pressure, just support.
What happens during the first appointment?
We’ll review your intake forms, discuss confidentiality, and identify your therapy goals. You’ll leave with a clear sense of what our work together will look like and what steps we’ll take next.
How much do sessions cost?
My practice accepts both insurance and private pay clients.
Rates are competitive and vary depending on session length and type.
If you’re paying out of pocket, I provide superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
During our consultation, we’ll review fees, coverage, and the best payment options for you.
How do I pay?
A valid credit card is required to hold your appointment. Payments are processed securely through an online system. Auto-pay options are available for your convenience.
Who do you work with?
I provide telehealth therapy for individuals, couples, and families across Florida and New York.
I specialize in anxiety, stress, and OCD (using ERP therapy), as well as communication and relationship challenges.
What is Telehealth and how does it work?
Telehealth allows you to meet with your therapist online via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform from the comfort of your own space. You’ll need a stable internet connection and a private, quiet area for sessions. A laptop, tablet, or smartphone all work perfectly.
How long will I need therapy?
Every person’s needs are unique. I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which emphasizes progress and measurable change.
Some clients meet their goals in just a few months, while others continue longer-term for ongoing support. You’re always welcome to return as needed—therapy is here when you need it most.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in therapy stays private, except in cases where there’s a legal or ethical duty to report (for example, if there’s intent to harm yourself or others, or evidence of abuse). Your privacy and trust are my top priority.
Do you provide court, immigration, or ESA evaluations?
Not at this time.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled 24 hours prior to the day of the appointment. Cancellations can be done through your online account, via text/ phone call to 321-800-8443 or via email to mybestselftherapy@gmail.com. If a client does not show up or make contact within 15 minutes of session time beginning they will be charged a late fee.
